As artificial intelligence becomes a strategic priority for organisations across every sector, technology leaders face the challenge of balancing innovation with governance, security and trust. Ahead of his keynote at the Elevate.Tech Summit, titled The AI Leadership Agenda: Realising Value Whilst Managing Risk and Governance, we spoke to Brian McGeough, Chief Information Officer at Creditsafe, about the company’s AI journey, why trusted data is fundamental to successful AI adoption, and how businesses can deliver measurable value while maintaining the controls needed to deploy AI responsibly at scale…
Who are you?
Brian McGeough, Chief Information Officer at Creditsafe, the world’s most widely used provider of business credit reports. Creditsafe operates across 27 countries, providing trusted business intelligence to organisations worldwide. I bring more than 30 years of technology leadership experience, having held senior roles at Intel, Activision, and AWS, leading large-scale transformation, cloud adoption, and product innovation.
As CIO, I lead a global technology organisation of approximately 500 engineers and technology professionals across the UK, Ireland, and India, with responsibility for Technology Operations, Information Security, Data Engineering, Product Development, and Enterprise Applications.
How are you investing in AI to enable your customers?
Over the past two years, our focus has been on building enterprise-wide AI capability, embedding AI into business processes, and creating measurable operational efficiencies.
Today, our investment is centred on extending those capabilities to customers through Creditsafe Everywhere—a strategy designed to bring trusted business intelligence directly into the platforms where customers already work.
By integrating through channels such as MCP and Snowflake, we enable AI agents and large language models to access trusted, governed business data, ensuring decisions are informed by accurate and reliable information.
Beyond data access, we are developing intelligent services that combine Creditsafe’s expertise with AI-driven automation, helping customers accelerate research, analysis, and decision-making at scale.
What are your concerns with AI today ?
My primary focus is ensuring AI is deployed responsibly and sustainably. As adoption accelerates, governance, security, transparency, and accountability become increasingly important.
I continuously strive to find the right balance between innovation and risk, ensuring AI solutions maintain the trust, reliability, and integrity that customers expect from the products and services we provide to them.
The see the real opportunity lies with a laser focused on what you build and deploy, and ensuring strong governance with practical business outcomes. Always understanding how to measure everything, from improving productivity, enhancing decision-making, and creating competitive advantage without compromising control.
